Studio Practice 1980 - 1995

On leaving art college in 1980, I practiced as a self-employed artist making small scale artwork and being employed in many schools and colleges throughout Britain as an ‘artist in residence’. In the early 1990’s, I began tendering for large scale outdoor commissions.

Campbell Design and Engineering Ltd 1995 - 2020

Alongside my brother, Stephen Campbell, we began trading as Campbell Design and Engineering Ltd employing fabricators and installers. The company evolved into a thriving business allowing me to express my creativity and artistic vision from inception through design, fabrication to completion. CDE provided a design and build service to Architects, Landscape Architects, public and private sector clients, charities, and commercial developers. During its most successful period between 2008 – 2016, the company employed up to 14 people. In 2019, a re-evaluation of the aims and ambitions of the company was undertaken, and the company was sold.

Studio Practice 2020 onwards

In 2020, the company was sold and I began my career as a solo artist designer. With a wealth of experience and knowledge of materials, production techniques, processes and finishes, I continue to design and fabricate on selected projects that inspire my creativity.
